Rams for Sale
The ram prices are based off of the US Maternal Index. The Index tells you how many extra pounds to expect from each of his daughter’s lambing. A ram with a 110 Index has 10 extra pounds genetically bred into him. He will pass half of that on to his daughters or 5 pounds more lamb each lambing. If you save 100 daughters over the lifetime of the ram you would expect 500 extra pounds of lamb out of those 100 ewes at each lambing. Keep those ewes for an average of 5 lambings, you will have to sell an extra 2500 pounds of lamb. It is a good problem to have if lambs prices stay above $1.50! All because of you used EBVs to make an educated selection decision.
